Besides my apartment what is available to me in the building?
Residents can use the many common rooms of the campus. An enclosed courtyard, conference room, beauty shop, and lounge equipped with a T.V. and computer with internet access are all available on the first floor. Located on the second floor is an exercise room where low impact exercise instruction is performed twice a week. There is also a multi-purpose craft room for various social activities such as making handmade candles or discussing world news. A chapel on the third floor can provide a quiet atmosphere for a weekly Eucharistic prayer service or personal religious reflection. All three floors have a laundry room with two sets of washer/dryer units. These units are available at no additional charge.

What features are available in the apartment?
Numerous services are offered at the Alsatian to cater to independent seniors. The apartment is equipped with a complete kitchen, bedroom, large walk-in closet, living room, and a bathroom. The apartment is designed to meet the living needs of independent seniors. Such features include raised outlets on the walls to keep residents from having to bend down too far, and large, raised numbers on the apartment’s thermostat that help those with impaired vision to see with more ease. Bathrooms are handicap accessible with raised toilets, grab bars and the option of pull down shower seats.The pile of the carpet is low and firm to help prevent falls. Other services include a 75-channel tier for cable, local phone, and all utilities. Residents are welcomed to bring pets that meet established criteria.
What happens if I have a medical emergency?
Residents having a medical emergency should attempt to call either 911, their doctor, or their family. If for any reason they are unable to dial a phone number, the Alsatian emergency system can be activated by knocking their phone off the hook. After 60 seconds, a signal is sent so an internal emergency response is initiated. Therefore, residents are encouraged to have a phone in each room of their apartment.![]()
What if my care needs increase and I need to go to Assisted Living or the Nursing Home?
When you become a resident of the Alsatian you are given priority to move to a higher level of care if the need should arise. At times there may be a waiting list at the Assisted Living and the Nursing Home. Alsatian residents have priority on these lists.I have a car. Does the Alsatian have garages?
Yes. Those residents that drive have the choice of choosing a garage for a nominal charge, or using the designated resident parking in the parking lots.![]()
I have a quad cane and a wheel chair. Does this prevent me from living at the Alsatian?
No. You are able to have adaptive devices as long as these devices help you to remain independent.Could you explain the dining process?
Residents are offered a dinner meal every evening. Each evening there is a choice of two entrees and a salad bar. One entrée is what most would consider gourmet and the other is more home-style.![]()
How do I offer input and suggestions?
The staff of the Alsatian values your ideas and opinions. Residents are encouraged to participate in monthly “Town Meetings” to share their thoughts about life at the Alsatian. Residents are also encouraged to discuss suggestions with the Director on an individual basis.
